The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

1 Jun

The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place on June 2, 1953. However, she came to the throne on February 6, 1952. Her Silver Jubilee was held in 1977, her Golden Jubilee was in 2002, and now her Diamond Jubilee for 60 years is held this year. The only other monarch to reach her Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897. This weekend, from June 2nd to June 5th, the main 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II are being held.
