Bowdacious: For The Love of Cute

7 Dec

One of my best friends for the past 13 years, Amy Laun, recently opened up an Etsy shop selling hair bows and (soon) bow ties! She is one of the most creative people I know. Aside from creating bows, she is also a fantastic web designer.

Her company is called Bowdacious. This is her story behind her bows:

“for the love of cute

I have always loved bows. One day I was making myself a pair of shorts and had some extra fabric to spare. Instead of just throwing it away, I decided to make myself a matching bow.
I received so much positive feedback on the bow I started making more of them, which has led me to where I am now. I am so happy I am able to produce a high quality product that people love!”

Nail Art: Glitter Blocked Nails

28 Jun

I love painting my nails and attempting to create various nail art designs. The below design is what I like to call a “glitter blocked” look:

1) Paint your entire nail with one color. I first used the Sally Hansen “Whirlwind White” Insta-Dri polish.

2) Place nail strips onto your nails. I used Nailene Perfect Tips polish guides and placed them diagonally.

3) Paint the second color on either side of the nail strip. I used Butter London’s “Henley Regatta.”

The Pantone Queen

12 Jun

Due to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year, London based advertising agency, Leo Burnett, teamed up with Pantone to create a unique shade guide. These colors are based on the colorful outfits the Queen has worn throughout her reign. The shades date back to the Queen’s coronation in 1953. This Pantone guide is the perfect combination of two things I am passionate about, color and the royal family.

Will and Kate Balloon Art

26 May

I came across an extraordinary image of balloon art created by artists Larry Moss and Kelly Cheatle. Their company is called “Airigami.”  They call their artistry “the fine art of folding air,” and it truly is. This image of their depiction of the Royal Wedding is what caught my eye on the internet:

My Senior Fashion Show

11 May

Wednesday, May 9, 2012 was a momentous evening for me. It was the night of my senior fashion show, Campus Couture. I have been working on designs for this particular show since September 2011, and my garments came to life on the runway with the help of my fabulous models, Karrah, Stacy, Lily, Alexis, Sara, Jessica, Marin, and Victoria. I am so proud of my collection entitled “Vintage Romance.” It was inspired by my style icon, Audrey Hepburn, and the elegance of the 1950s. I incorporated romantic details such as lace and ruffles, along with a pastel color palette inspired by the Kate Spade quote, “Live Colorfully!” Below are photos and a video from the runway and backstage on one of the best nights of my life!

My entire senior collection!

A partial video of my collection from dress rehearsal, showcasing 5 of my 8 looks that walked the runway. I had to get backstage to practice my senior walk, or else I would’ve gotten them all 🙂
